SEARCH BASICS
To effectively search Evernote, it is necessary to learn the basic search syntax. Here are a few I frequently use. Note that if the search contains multiple words, with spaces, the term must be included in quotes.
intitle:
Searches for word(s) in the note title
- intitle:don
- intitle:”data analysis”
notebook:
Searches for a specific notebook (Evernote’s term for Folders)
- notebook:01_ToBeFiled
- notebook:”_Discussion Items”
tag:
Searches for notes with a specific tag assigned
- tag:exceltips
- tag:”business disruption”
resource:
filters notes containing a specific kind of media
- resource:application/PDF (finds all notes with a PDF attachment)
You can also combine searches to narrow notes further; for instance:
Filter for notebook 01_ClientNotes that have the tag INST
- notebook:01_ClientNotes tag:INST
Filter for notebook 01_ClientNotes that have the tag INST, that have a PDF attached
- notebook:01_ClientNotes tag:INST resource:application/PDF
